BELO HORIZONTE

 

 

Belo Horizonte is a Brazilian city, capital of Minas Gerais, located in southeastern Brazil. With planned construction, the city has a population of 2,479,175 inhabitants, being the sixth most populous city in Brazil and is also among the seven cities with the best infrastructure in the country. Belo Horizonte has already been indicated by the UN Population Crisis Commitee as the metropolis with better quality of life in Latin America and occupies the 45th position among the 100 best cities in the world. It is also nationally known as the "national capital of pubs," for there are more bars per capita than in any other major city in Brazil.

 

Belo Horizonte, the third largest city in Brazil, has made early education a priority in an effort to improve the competitiveness of its workforce in the long term and support the national government's policy goals. With support from International Finance Corporation (IFC), it turned to private sector funding and expertise to expand and strengthen its preschool and primary school system. The concession Brazil's first public-private partnership in the education sector was awarded in July 2012. The innovative model in the area of education, the result of a pioneering initiative created by INOVA BH with the Belo Horizonte City Government, initially included the construction of 37 schools for the municipality. Now, there this number will be increased to 51.
