SÃO PAULO
With a population of 20 million people, São Paulo is a city of impressive numbers. With the largest GDP in the country, the city breathes business, housing more than 60% of multinational companies established in Brazil. No wonder that the metropolis is known for its fast pace. At the same time, São Paulo is a cultural reference and example of cosmopolitism, having the largest Japanese population outside of Japan, as well as the largest descendent population of Italians outside Italy. Indeed, the city is a melting pot, having a significant number of inhabitants from several nationalities - and this diversity can be seen mixed up while walking in any corner of this concrete jungle. All these factors make "Sampa" a city of endless opportunities and possibilities.
Since the 60s, São Paulo is the main economic center of Brazil. The metropolis is home to a population of nearly 12 million inhabitants, being the largest city in South America and cultural reference both for its art market as the ethnic diversity that confers to São Paulo its cosmopolitan character.
Our program aims to provide to the participants the chance to discover the ways in which this city, known for being constantly in hurry, is organized. Being the major metropolis in Brazil, São Paulo is the best place to observe international tendencies such as globalization, multiculturalism, migratory movements, among others. Moreover, because the city is the national economic polo, participants can see the strength of the performance of the private sector and the power of influence and way in which it relates to other sectors of society.
