Linha 5 - Subway

The Linha 5 Subway line is under construction since May 2011 this extension will connect the Largo Thirteen in, the Klabin Finca Santo Amaro. The stretch of 11.5 km and will be composed of permanent way in single and double rooms and tunnels excavated in NATM methods and Shield, and 11 stations. It is the first time that three TBMs in Brazil, also called shields (tatuzões), will be used. It is a milestone for the Metro. The use of three shields on the same line aims to shorten the duration of the work and its cost. Tunnels built by roadheader are ready up to 20 times faster than it used traditional known as NATM.

Jardim das Perdizes - Tecnisa

 

Jardim das Perdizes is a brand new venture from Tecnisa (TCSA3), one of the largest Real State companies in Brazil who works in an integrated system: development, construction and sales.

The new neighborhood is being built in a 300,000 sq yd area will have 30 different condos and a park and it is located in one of the Sao Paulo welthiest areas.

ExxonMobil is an American corporation and was formed in 1999, by the merger of Exxon and Mobil. The world's third largest company by revenue, ExxonMobil is also the second largest publicly traded company by market capitalization and was ranked No. 5 globally in Forbes Global 2000 list in 2013. 

ExxonMobil has been subject to numerous criticisms, including the lack of speed during its cleanup efforts after the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska, widely considered the number one spill worldwide in terms of damage to the environment.

Cantagalo and Pavão - Pavãozinho Slum

Cantagalo and Pavão-Pavãozinho are neighboring favelas in Copacabana and Ipanema, in the South Zone. This is one of the classic examples of the formation of favelas in Rio Janeiro, in which the poorer population settled in the hills close to the fastest growing areas. We will be abble to see how people construct their houses even facing lack of infra-structure a logistic problems. Our local tour guide is Gabriel Abreu who was born and raised in Pavao, where he is still leaving. As he speaks English, students will be able to hear directly from him.

Ilha Pura - Olympic Village

The village of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 will have 3604 apartments to be used by more than 18,000 athletes. There are 31 buildings of 17 floors with total private infrastructure spread over seven condominiums independent apartments with 3 and 4 bedrooms.The Ilha Pura has 870 000 m2, of which 247,000 m2 are reserved for the construction of the Athletes' Village will occur in just three and a half years. The apartments will be sold and delivered to end customers within one year after competitions.The project includes a public park of 65,000 m2 and a pool of 20 000 m2, built specifically to meet the landscaping of the Athletes' Village, signed by the office of landscape architect Burle Marx.The neighborhood Ilha Pura example of quality and sustainability, starting with the Athletes' Village will be one of the best places to live in Rio de Janeiro.

Olympic Park

The Olympic Park will serve the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Fifteen different Olympic sports will be disputed along a 1.18-million square meter terrain, (basketball, judo, tae-kwon-do, martial arts, handball, field hockey, tennis, cycling, high diving, water polo, swimming, synchronized swimming, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline gymnastics) as well as 11 Paralympic sports (wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, lawn bowling, judo, seated volleyball, goal ball, five-player soccer, seven-player soccer, wheelchair tennis, cycling and swimming. The site will also house the Press Center, which should receive some 20,000 accredited journalists.

 

The legacy for the city was highlighted by all those involved in the bidding, undertaken by the Municipal Olympic Company in partnership with the Brazilian Architects’ Union, the Brazilian Architects’ Institute (IAB), the Rio 2016 Committee and the Brazilian Federal Government.
