With the development of communication technologies, people have become more aware of what is happening on the international stage.  This awareness translates into a more active civil society, bringing with it new ideas and issues to the international agenda.  Governments now deliberate on social themes that, in many cases, surpass national borders and demand a collective action to reach successful results.  In this way, the responsibility for managing international affairs of a country are facing new challenges, dealing with new actors, at a higher frequency, all at once.  While civil society is organizing itself through establishing NGOs and movements designed to highlight specific interests and themes.

With this stage, our International Relations and Politics program aims to give participants a more intimate look at the South American sphere.  Thereby connecting learners with the actors including international leaders, civil society group leaders, NGO staff, government workers, academic specialists and Brazilian students.  As the world's 5th largest country, Brazil has a large extension, while being a great case study of a developing country facing the challenges of international politics.  With this program, you will be able to observe the implications of this visibility and the actions being made deciding Brazil's place on the global stage.
