Innovative Education in Brazil

11-Day Sample Program in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro

For years educators have been developing new methods to enable and streamline the passing of knowledge to the next generation.  In a world in constant change, where technology distributes information faster than ever, professors are facing new challenges and opportunities that call on innovative projects to reach new solutions.

 

The quality of practice in the classroom has increased in Brazil.  While the educational environment has been expanding classroom borders, bringing new players and ideas into the pedagogical-fold that influence dialogues on world-views and add critical content to the classic education model.  Campus Brasil’s Innovative Education Program aims to put the participants in touch with those Brazilians responsible for this wave of transformation. The program will introduce participants to research specialist in the field, explore examples of successful projects, interact with innovators of these projects and see how students are facing the changes stemming from these initiatives.

Sample Itinerary 

Day 1 - Arrival in São Paulo

Bem Vindo! (Welcome to Brazil!).

Campus Brasil representative will be at the airport to meet your group.

- Orientation Session:
After check in, there will be a group Orientation Session about the program and Safety & Culture in Brazil.

 

- Cultural Tour in São Paulo:

Between the coffee boom and wealth coming from mines in nearby states, São Paulo soon became the richest city in the nation, attracting a great number of Italians, Germans, Japanese and other immigrants – which contributed to the unique cosmopolitan environment of the city.

- Welcome Dinner

Day 2 -   

- LECTURE AT A UNIVERSITY:

 "The challenges of innovation in education"

- VISIT TO AN EXAMPLE OF AN ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION MODEL:

i.e. Escola Waldorf  -Waldorf (Steiner) 

education is based on the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Anthroposophy. The pedagogy emphasizes the role of imagination in learning, striving to integrate holistically the intellectual, practical, and artistic development of pupils.

Day 3 -

- LECTURE AT SANTO ANDRÉ CITY HALL – EXAMPLE OF CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND PARTICIPATORY BUDGET:

Children participate in the formulation of the participatory budget of the city of Santo André (SP). They elect representatives who attend meetings with municipal administrators to discuss the issue and take claims.

- VISIT TO FUNDAÇÃO VICTOR CIVITA:

It is an organization that seeks to build and disseminate knowledge and practical values of basic education that help educators face the challenges of their time.
