This Dialogue presented an overview of the challenges and opportunities that Brazil, and moreover the city of Rio de Janeiro, faced from hosting the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. The session began with the presentation of the report: "Rio 2016 Under the Perception of Residents and Tourists" developed in partnership by Federal Fluminese University (Rio de Janeiro) and Unigranrio (Rio de Janeiro) 

 

SPEAKERS
Paola Lohmann

Paola Lohmann is MSc in  Management  at  Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV)  and  graduated  in  Tourism  Management  at Federal Fluminense University (UFF). She is a Professor at the Tourism graduation course at UFF. She has an extensive experience in project management and research, including in the context of mega sports events. Recently, managed academic research related to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, as grant researcher at the National Scientific and Technological Development Council (CNPq) and generated articles published in international academic events.

Gabriela De Laurentis

Attended Master in Market Research, Media and Public Opinion at the Universidad de Ciencias Empresariales y Socialies (UCES) in Buenos Aires and graduated in Graphic Design at UniverCidade in Rio de Janeiro. She previously worked as an analyst, coordinator and researcher in consulting and research Institutes in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Getulio Vargas Foundation.

Karina Virkki

Karina Virkki holds a postgraduate degree in Business Administration at Getulio Vargas Foundation and in Marketing at Brazilian Institute of Market and Capitals (IBMEC); she is graduated in Tourism at Federal Fluminense University (UFF). She has professional and academic experience in tourism with emphasis in administration, planning and management of touristic destinations. She works as athletes coordinator at Rio 2016 Olympic Games in the Archery sector. In addition has professional experience in the areas of Cultural Marketing and Foreign trade consulting.
